Bone Health

Osteopenia and osteoporosis is a condition in which the bones become more porous.  This can lead to weak bones which can lead to fractures.  Making sure your diet is adequate in calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin K is an important step in making sure you are meeting your body’s needs for maintaining strong bones.  Along with nutrition, weight bearing exercises and resistance exercises like walking, running, and weight lifting will help to keep bones strong. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation website has published information about bone health in CF.
