Official Title: Randomized Double Blind Controlled Trial of the Use of a Biofilm Antimicrobial Susceptibility Assay to Guide Antibiotic Therapy in Chronic Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Infected Cystic Fibrosis Patients

The Cystic Fibrosis Clinic at St.Paul’s Hospital recruited patients for the Biofilm study. Recruitment took place also at Hospital for Sick Kids (HSC) and St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH) in Toronto. This study targeted cystic fibrosis patients who have chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. The aim was to see if using a biofilm antimicrobial susceptiblity assay to select anitbiotics to treat an exacerbation will be more effective or not. 

The study has been completed.
